“Color (film) is dead, long live (digital) color!”
The industry killed it for me (and countless other people who loved it) through constant price increases that have now officially made it completely unaffordable.
There is absolutely NO WAY I’ll ever pay these crazy prices (upwards of 10 or sometimes 15 euros) for TRASH films like Fuji C200. These films were once wonderful cheap backups or alternatives for our compact cameras and tourist photos (I used to get them for around 2 euros in 2010) and now they’re marketed like they are studio grade.
Oh well, so it goes.
As long as I can still afford it, I’m sticking with black and white 35mm for now, although I’m pretty sure I’ll wake up one day, not too far from now, and HP5 will be 18 euros and that will be the end of that too :)
Still, this post is about color, and I’m very thankful for my trusty 2014 Ricoh GR, which allows me to shoot as much as I like and get some wonderful colors with just a couple of tweaks in Lightroom. Here’s a whole bunch of them that I’ve shot since September:
