It’s been a tumultuous few months. In September 2019, we began the process of moving from the island of Leros to our new apartment in Athens. Logistically, it was quite a difficult process (with 4 cats on top of everything), because the apartment in Athens required major renovations that, in the end, took approximately two months. Since our only other place was in Leros, we had to stay in the new apartment while it was being renovated, which means we stayed there for weeks on end, at first without a working toilet, then without a working shower (boy was that a blast!), and without electricity, while also enjoying endless dirt, rubble and debris from the ongoing renovation works. It was quite hellish for a couple of months, but of course we were super happy and excited to get a new place at the end.
This huge disruptive move also means that I still haven’t developed any films from last summer. I just finished setting up the room to develop films in the new apartment, so I should be able to start developing black and whites soon (I’ve got at least 12 of them lined up from last summer). For now, I just finished scanning three color films (a Portra 400 and two Lomo 100s), shot with a compact camera between August and December 2019. In no particular order:
Leros:
(one frame apart) Athens:
before:
after (phone snap):
thanks for sticking around. More to come when I (finally) find time to develop and scan my black and whites :)
