I apologize in advance for the long post, but that’s what happens when you never find the time. It’s been a very busy and difficult time. Things have been tough all around Greece, dealing with a double crisis, and on our small island, most of us have been busy, ceaselessly tending to our work while simultaneously trying to help out with the refugees who keep passing through. There hasn’t been much time for anything else, but when you always carry a camera with you, you’re bound to get at least some decent shots. Here are some:
Here are a couple of extremely belated shots of our American friend, Tevon. I managed to snap them during one of the very few moments of relaxation he enjoyed while volunteering in Leros:
here’s a couple of shots of a stray cat hanging around a car mechanic’s shop:
this one was shot at dawn with a 80-200 tele lens. It instantly reminded me of the Feersum Endjinn cover (even though mine is a crow), and of how much Iain Banks will be missed:
a couple of shot of Yorgos and Eleni:
Little Nastia drawing and smiling:
Orestis, with Tsipras on the background:
a panoramic view of a calm, night-time, Agia Marina:
some fluffy clouds in Lakki:
a couple of shots from one of the boatyards on the island:
fear and loathing while fishing in Panteli at night:
driving after the rain:
a nice bright yellow Vespa, on a nice bright day:
an old telephone (a perfect photo for a smartphone lock-screen btw):
a couple of nice shots from a head-clearing ride to the edge of Lakki:
a nice view of Panteli:
cheap white wine:
Laundry at the PIKPA building (Refugee Center for Vulnerable Groups):
and a couple more shots in and around the PIKPA building:
this one came out great. If you’ve walked around Lakki in Leros you’ve seen this guy for sure. He always says hi. I finally managed to take a nice photo of him:
And, now, the black and whites. First, a couple of shots of refugees kicking a football around, outside the PIKPA building:
kids playing at the UN refugee camp:
a couple of grim shots from the PIKPA building, before it was renovated:
an “interesting” character who always seems to be hanging around the port at Agia Marina. The other day, he was listening to Elvis Presley while drinking wine from a crystal glass, on his little vehicle, at 12 noon:
a nice capture of a seagull:
Freshly ground coffee at Stelios’:
And, finally, a couple of earlier shots of our young cat, Yoshimi, who is now pregnant and sporting a giant belly (not visible here, more on that soon, hopefully with kitten photos):
Thanks for visiting! Hopefully, next time, I will have more free time to upload a shorter post!
