My favourite shots from the first walks around Athens with the M6. All shot on Tri-X and scanned
with Epson V700. First a couple of tourists covering all angles with their videocameras:
Thisseio train station and a man walking towards me to tell me, as always, not to photograph the precious trains:
Noon sun making these old magazines shine. This would have been nicer in colour:
hip shot:
love the expression of the guy in the left:
shots in and around avissinia square:
the compulsion to shoot random mirrors:
visit to the old record store I used to shop as a teenager for some nice shots including a priest:
doesn’t he look great with the Motörhead poster on the background?
perhaps my favourite shot from these walks. I saw these photos on the wall of a small alley (with more record shops) and they looked like they were ready to frame
a passer-by. So I went up some stairs through a door (there was no space for the frame otherwise) and waited for someone to pass. Unfortunately, no one came and
after 15 minutes I was giving up. Then this guy came to save the day and I suppose I was too quick to press the shutter but at least I got the shot. I am going to go back
there on a busier day and shoot some more people in that frame. I love how Ingrid Bergman and Cary Grant stare towards the right:
monastiraki:
hip shot:
another hip shot failing to calculate the focus but still ok:
a dog looking like a small polar bear having a nap:
3 shots from inside a store selling earings, beads, etc:
Inside the store, I turned towards the ceiling and saw the following craziness! I waited for something interesting to
come up on the television screen (nailed to the ceiling and MJ came up! It was perfect :)
ermou street:
Athinas & Sofokleous:
a nice “triptych”:
a stencil and a man talking on the phone:
Shot from inside the H&M store:
my favourite one (trying my best to isolate a single person on the foreground of this building):
what looked like a photo finish:
traffic messing with my frame:
public toilet meeting:
shots of a woman at a bus stop, first normal, second up close with the summicron:
two shots to finish the roll back home:
Shots from a rare, rainy day at my local tax office when there were almost no people and no queues and I finished what I had to do in 10 mins!
check the grungy elevator of a public building:
the total of ALL people on that floor of the tax office. I’m still excited about that because a friend went to his tax office 3 days
before that to do the exact same thing and it took him 6 hours due to the huge queue!
On the way out, very nice to carry a small camera, so that you don’t miss any shots:
shots from a different rainy day:
playing around with symmetry (trying to involve the tip of my umbrella), quite happy with this one:
a chance to shoot the summicron wide open:
two mores shots to finish the roll:
And, finally, a few shots from the last tri-x on my trusty Nikon F3 w 35/2. The M6 is quite new to me and has yet to prove itself, whereas
I have been shooting the F3 for 7 seven years with flawless results. First, a lovely natural light portrait of my grandma in her house:
buzzers and light:
tiny chairs for sale:
and 3 more night shots:

To my mind, Ingrid Bergman and Cary Grant have one of the top realistic looks ever. However, my favorite photo of yours is -of course- the Motor-priest-head ;)
Keep it coming…
